Toby the Brushbot is inspired by Evil Mad Scientist’s bristlebot. A brushBot is a machine that simulates some of the characteristics of a robot, including: movement and energy. It is typically powered by battery, or electrical or solar energy. To build it, you construct a circuit with a battery connected to a pager motor on top of a toothbrush head. Toby The Brushbot does not have an on and off switch, but you can add one. He also does not have sensors (such as light or touch sensors) or intelligence through programming that robots have. Kits to make a basic brushbot can be purchased from Maker Shed or parts can be inexpensively sourced online. Pager motors can be purchased from Evil Mad Scientist or from Radio Shack, in stores or online.
